BSAC Dive Leader
Dive Leader training covers responsibilities and safety of leading other divers. Practical lessons will give divers confidence to deal with emergencies. Leading a dive will develop enjoyment, confidence and experience as a diver. Depth can be built progressively to a maximum of 50m after qualifying.
What you learn
The course is designed to develop your diving skills to be able to take on real leadership responsibility for planning and executing diving activities, and acquire expert level diving knowledge, skill and techniques. You’ll learn new skills including mid-water delayed SMB deployment, recovering a shot line using a lift bag, rescue management, and overall dive management.
Once qualified as a BSAC Diveleader, you can take additional supervised depth experience dives through which you can get certified to a maximum depth of 30 metres. Depth can be built progressively to a maximum of 50m after qualfying. Dive Leaders are eligible to progress to Open Water Instructor.
To enrol in the BSAC Dive Leader course, you must:
- be a minimum 14 years old
- hold a BSAC Sports Diver qualification, or equivalent
- have full BSAC diving membership
- have a BSAC certificate of fitness
- have a minimum of 20 open water dives

You will need a full set of diving kit. We offer equipment rental if required, at a discounted rate.
